Despite their increasing popularity, they are recieving opposition from national organizations such as the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) and the American Cancer Society(ACS) who feel like the only way to reduce tobacco usage is through nicotine patches. While the US FDA has found levels of carcinogens (cancer causing agents) in these e-cigs, Dr. Michael Siegel, a professor of public health at Boston University would argue that the level of carcinogens found in e-cigarettes are negligible when compared to those found in actual cigarettes.
What do you think? Should carcinogens be something that are trifled with, even if they are found in low levels? Should the FDA and ACS let people choose their own fate when it comes to e-cigarettes?

Title: WORLD OF E CIGARETTES; Electric Cigarettes Continue to Face Scrutiny Despite Popularity
Yes I have heard of these and am not sure how I feel about them quit yet. I believe that people would be better off using this rather than an actual cigarette because it is supposed to be less harmful. To me it is like deciding what to have for dinner McDonalds or a homemade meal, yes both will contain calories but one is going to be healthier than the other.
ReplyDeleteWow I had not heard of these until I read your article! I do think that people should have the choice of smoking or not, but I am totally against smoking. These people know the risk of smoking and they still continue to do it. Yes, people become addicted, but I know of several people who have smoked for over 20 years and were still able to quit. At least someone is trying to create a cigarette that is "less harmful" though.
