Apple is losing its market share on smart phones and is being left behind by Android systems and may continue loosing ground now that Microsoft and other companies are entering the game. One last push they had was to ditch AT&T and put the IPhone 4 out onto Verizon giving its users better coverage. However consumer reviews were tough on the IPhone 4 claiming it was a few months outdated when it came out, all other phones that had been coming out by Apples competitors have been 4G devices.
Now Apple is looking at new ways to tap into the market. Their plan, to offer smaller cheaper smart phones without contracts
I think this will help Apple in markets outside the US but will further limit them here. Not having contracts with the phones is very appealing though, it will give people a lot more opportunity and may be better for people that move often and need to switch carriers. IPhones were once the only real smart phone to get but now only have half the market that google does, If they want tot continue dominance in this field innovation will be the key and they will need to come up with changes.

I completely agree with this. Android has proven itself to be a great alternitive to the Iphone. With the abilities of the open operating systems the Iphone is falling by the wayside.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the iphone has dominated the smart phone market for the past few years and to continue to do so they are going to have to step it up. The android phones have definitely proven themselves and now that they have 4g, which iphone doesn't, i think that they have surpassed the iphone. Unless Apple comes up with some serious improvements they may have to change their focus.
ReplyDeleteApple tried too hard to be the first to come out with every "new" product and since they haven't been able to keep up and it's starting to show. I agree that the have a possible chance of falling out of the competitive smart phone market.
