Eating healthier, exercising more, and drinking less alcohol could help prevent up to a third of common cancers. Estimates from American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) and the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) conclude that making “healthier” lifestyle choices could reduce the occurrence of breast cancer by as much as forty percent. It’s believed that tens of thousands of cases of prostate, colorectal, and stomach cancers could be avoided as well. Martin Wiseman, a WCRF medical and scientific advisor said this about the issue:
“It is distressing that even in 2011, people are dying unnecessarily from cancers that could be prevented through maintaining a healthy weight, diet, physical activity and other lifestyle factors.”
Cancer is the leading cause of death around the world, in fact every year 12.7 million people are diagnosed with the illness and 7.6 million people die from it. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), annual cancer deaths could reach 13.2 million people by 2030, almost double the number it killed in 2008. The science is there and the findings are astonishing. Getting people to change their lifestyle and live a healthier life is the challenge now. Getting the recommended 150 minutes of exercise a week could make a huge difference in reducing cancer rates. The question is, how do we get people to make these lifestyle changes?

That is a good question! I was just thinking "I wonder if this information would be enough to get people to change their lifestyle habits." It really is astonishing the number of people who are affected by cancer each year :(
